Native Plant Garden Work Party

Friday, March 25, 9:00-11:30 am

The snow is gone, and spring is in the air. The salmonberry and osoberry are in bloom, and birds are singing their spring songs. That means it is time for us to start the season with a quick tiding up of the Heritage Museum's native plant gardens!

Dust off your gardening gear and come join us for a variety of tasks. Many hands make light work!

  1. Rake and sweep the asphalt walkway
  2. Rake any leaves off the stone stream
  3. Sheet mulch the far SW corner which was cleared of ivy back in December. If you
have never done sheet mulching before, here is a How To video about
    it:  https://www.gardengreen.org/weeds
  4. Bring cardboard for sheet mulching - ideally with tape removed.
  5. Bring wood chips to cover up the cardboard. No amount of wood chips is too small. We can always use more for mulching the garden.
  6. Prune dead leaves off the sword ferns and other plants in the Audubon native garden
  7. Rake the gravel walkway in the Audubon native garden
  8. Pick up any trash that has blown up against the back fence
  9. Cut back the ivy and blackberries that are reaching through or over the back fence
  10. Weed as needed

Unless the power is out or the weather is more than a light rain, we will gather, so please dress accordingly. If you feel so inclined, let us know your email address in the form on this page and we will be able to keep you in the know. If you have any questions, please contact Diane Emerson at dianeemerson@yahoo.com. Thank you for considering helping to keep the grounds beautiful during this time of Natural Wonder!
