Vashon Potters in the 1970s and 1980s

Thursday, April 14, 7:00 pm, Zoom, Free

Vashon became a haven for potters and other artists during the 1970s and 1980s. Working together, this community of artists laid the foundation for the vibrant art scene the island enjoys today. Vashon Allied Arts emerged during this time and grew into what is today the Vashon Center for the Arts.

Hear the stories of those early potters as they built their kilns, their studios, and their community that developed the Vashon Potter's Tour that has now become the Vashon Studio Tour. Chris Beck, Greg McElroy, Marla Smith, and Irene Otis, will talk with moderator Liz Shepherd, editor of the Beachcomber, about these formative days on Vashon.

A suggested donation of $10 or more will support this and future Museum Talks. We appreciate your continued support!
