VIGA Harvest Festival

In conjunction with the Farmer’s Market Harvest Festival the Vashon Island Heritage Association and Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) put on an annual jam/jelly/chutney taste contest. Canning is a Heritage skill prized in households for 100 years. On this island, where strawberries as well as other berries and fruits have been big crops, the bar is set high for these confections. Dozens of delicious entries are judged on a list of qualities including canning method, clarity, color, taste, originality. Winning entries will be awarded fabulous canning related prizes donated by local businesses.
